Support to economic reforms and sustainable economic development in regions of Uzbekistan

The GIZ project "Support to Economic Reforms and Sustainable Economic Development in Regions of Uzbekistan ", aims at strengthening the local economy with a focus on Ferghana Valley and Karakalpakstan. The project is working in the agri-food and tourism sectors, enhancing the skills of relevant actors at meso and macro levels and improving the dialogue between private and public institutions. In the tourism sector, using international experience and proven approaches, the project intends to continue to promote the tourism potential of the "low-profile" regions, build the capacity of tourism service providers, increase the service quality and diversify tourism offers. A special focus will be on handicraft development as a cross-cutting sector closely linked to tourism. The main goal is to create opportunities for further employment and income generation through increasing the tourists flow and enhancing capacities of service providers.
