Protection of the Environment and Biodiversity in Jordan (PROTEB II)

The service provider will be in charge of providing and managing international and national short-term experts for policy advice together with capacity development, contributing to the field of enhancing governance capacities of the Ministry of Environment for hazardous waste management. In this context, the service provider, in close coordination with the local GIZ team, shall be taking over the following tasks, starting the signature of the contract until the end of January 2020: (a) stocktaking of available figures on hazardous wastes quantities in Jordan and its impact on the environment, (b) providing technical input to the Ministry of Environment on how to reach more generators, defining the content of awareness campaigns and providing information on status quo of hazardous waste management and enforcement in the region and on a global scale, (c) trainings for staff from the Ministry of Environment as well as the royal department for environmental protection (rangers) to strengthen the capacities for monitoring of hazardous waste during the whole disposal procedure.
