81287909-Occupational Safety and Health in the tannery sector in Bangladesh

The GoTan project ("Good Working Conditions in Tanneries") supports the leather producing industry in its improvement in Occupational Health and Safety (OSH). It identifies the common interests of key actors - in the ministries, factories and academia and brings them together with the aim of developing a shared vision of OSH in leather production and promoting greater cooperation. The project operates in Bangladesh. The project activities are clustered in three output areas as follows: (1.) The capacities of DIFE (Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments, Government of Bangladesh) to inspect occupational health and safety in tanneries have been strengthened; (2) Advisory and training services on occupational health and safety in tanneries are used by industry; (3) University training in occupational health and safety in leather production has improved. A Contractor is required to provide international and national/regional experts with relevant professional and regional experience. The Contractor shall be responsible for service delivery related to output area (2) and (3) and supports partially to output area (1). Close collaboration and coordination between the GIZ team and personnel assigned by the Contractor will be required.
