The contract is part of the project "Programme for the Promotion of a Responsible Governance (ProGRESP)" in Mauritania, which was mandated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and will be implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH from January 2022 until June 2024. The project has a financial volume of up to 6 million EUR. The overall objective of ProGRESP is improving the implementation of the decentralization process in Mauritania. To achieve this objective, the programme intervenes in three outputs: 1) Strengthening the performance of local authorities and the central government"s steerage of decentralization; 2) Improving the financial instruments available to local authorities; 3) Setting up preconditions for the implementation of regional and local development plans. GIZ is seeking the services of a contractor (consultancy firm or consortium) to support ProGRESP partner municipalities in the Mauritanian region of Assaba to strengthen their performance and the effective implementation of decentralization.
