The International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) supports partner countries in developing innovative instruments for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Cooling of buildings is the main driver of Indian electricity consumption. The Indian Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF & CC) has developed the India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP) as an integrated approach across sectors to reduce GHG emissions related to cooling. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is responsible for implementing the energy efficiency component of the ICAP. BMU has commissioned GIZ to support BEE and MoEF and CC in the implementation of the ICAP with regard to energy-efficient centralised cooling systems, also taking into account the climate effects of fluorinated or halogenated refrigerants. In order to implement the project a project management unit will be established which is the content of this tender.
