81252604 — Strengthening Girls Rights Zambia

In Zambia, young women and girls face the ‘triple threat’ of HIV, early pregnancy and gender based violence (GBV). The commissioning GIZ project ‘Strengthening Girls Rights’ works with the National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) to enable young people, especially girls, to exercise their rights and prevent HIV, early pregnancy and GBV. It runs the period January 2020 to December 2022. The projects focus is on strengthening capacities at the decentralized level for coordination, youth-friendly services and the creation of an enabling environment for young people's rights. To this end, the project works closely with Provincial and District AIDS Coordination Advisors (PACAs and DACAs) in Lusaka, Southern and North-Western Province. Furthermore, the project works to set up sustainable systems for the delivery of the join-in-circuit, which has scientifically been proven to increase young people's knowledge on HIV and uptake of services.
