GIZ India's Indo German Energy Programme on Access to Energy in Rural Areas-II (IGEN Access II) comes under energy sector focusing programme on renewable energy and energy efficiency. The programme objective is to bring inclusive energy supply that is technically and economically efficient and socially and environmentally sustainable by German development cooperation. The key objective of IGEN Access-II is ‘Energy supply is improved in rural areas of selected federal states’. Target group for the project are the rural population, who will benefit from a modern and environmentally friendly power supply irrespective of their gender, age, income or ethnicity, plus specialists and managers. The partner agency in India is the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). IGEN Access-II is designed to act in selected partner federal states where it will: advise political decision-makers on the initiation of a cross-sector energy planning process.
