The objective of the project ‘Employment Promotion for Marginalised People in Timor-Leste/Partnership for Sustainable Agroforestry (PSAF)’ is that ‘marginalised groups benefit from better employment opportunities in the agroforestry systems of Timor-Leste’. The technical cooperation project focuses on the 4 eastern municipalities Manatuto, Baucau, Viqueque and Lautem. Some 4 000 households in 40 sucos (villages) with an average of 5,8 people per household benefit from the interventions. The project aims to improve income and employment opportunities in agriculture and forestry for the rural population. This is achieved through four fields of action: 1) Increasing production and productivity of agroforestry systems; 2) Strengthening the capacities of beneficiaries along selected agroforestry value chains; 3) Improving market access for specific agroforestry value chains; 4) Improving the institutional and organisational framework for the promotion of agroforestry.
