81240647-Policy Advice for Climate Resilient Economic Development (CRED)

The expected strong impacts of climate change on economic growth and development increase the need for reliable and viable approaches to assess the impact of climate risks and potential adaptation scenarios on the economy of a country. Political decision-makers need sound forecasts in order to design and finance adequate economic policy instruments and to actively take countermeasures. However, there is a lack of experience both worldwide and in developing countries regarding the integration of climate risks into macroeconomic models. To address this shortcoming the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) has commissioned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) to implement the global programme. The project will be implemented in the pilot countries Vietnam, Kazakhstan and Georgia, from 2019 till 2022. For the implementation of this project, GIZ will subcontract consultancy services.
