81234794-Scaling Up Access to Drinking Water and Sanitation in Burkina Faso

II.1.4) The urban population of Burkina Faso is projected to grow from 4 300 000 people (2017) to about 11 000 000 people in 2030. Only 34 % of the urban population uses sanitation facilities that meet minimum standards. ONEA covers only about 3 % of the urban population with access to the sanitation chain in line with the criteria of the SDG 6.2. Within its programme “Drinking Water and Sanitation” in Burkina Faso the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) aims at scaling up of access to safe drinking water and sanitation in urban areas and to improve employability of technicians working in the sector. In this context, GIZ intends to cooperate with a consulting company for the implementation phase 2019 - 2021 with the option of extension for a maximum of 3,5 years.
