81228124-Technical Cooperation with Kenia, Green Innovation Centres Dairy Value Chain

The global project “Green Innovation Centers for the Agriculture and Food sector” is part of the BMZ Special Initiative “One World — No Hunger” and aims at improving smallholders’ incomes, increasing employment opportunities and improving the regional food supply in the rural target regions. The Green Innovation Centre in Kenya (GIC) is one out of 15 country packages at global level. The Green Innovation Center in Kenya is supporting the sweet potato and dairy value chain in Western Kenya (Siaya, Bungoma and Kakamega county). The project which is put out for tender will contribute to achieve the following project outcome indicators in the dairy value chain: — increase income of dairy farmers in the project area by 30%; create at least 250 additional employment opportunities in the up- and downstream industries of the dairy value chain (thereof 20% youth and 35% women), — increase turnover of the supported up- and downstream enterprises of dairy value chain by 25%, — increase productivity.
