81213358 — Waste Management Flagship Programme (Phase 2): Diversion of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) from Landfills in 6 South African Municipalities.

The Department of Environmental Affairs in partnership with the Climate Support Programme of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH seeks to undertake a detailed pre-feasibility study to develop waste diversion strategies, as well as associated implementation and business plans for 6 South African municipalities. The business and implementation plans are to enable the municipalities to solicit national and international funding to advance the implementation of alternative waste treatment interventions identified. The detailed pre-feasibility study is to be undertaken by a service provider of a multi-diciplianary team of experts with financial, legal, technical, climate change and institutional expertise in the areas of solid waste management, municipal solid waste management and alternative/advanced waste treatment. Local knowledge and knowledge transfer are integral to the project.
